About Me
I guess the first thing I want you to know is that I have had years and years of experience living through and helping others through bereavement and loss of many types. Some of this wasn't experience I would have chosen, but I am quite proud of my strong survival skills and even more so, of learning how to get past survival and embrace life. I was widowed quite young and eventually lost all of the members of my family of origin, as well as some close friends. My work in the adoption field and life as an adoptive parent have also contributed to my being highly sensitive to issues of loss.

I have been a single parent and I remember well what it was like. I lived through a marriage challenged by the chronic illness of my spouse and then his tragic death in a fire. I have experienced both long-distance and hands-on caretaking of my sister and my mother, and have traveled through various life transitions. I re-married a wonderful man when I was in my late forties, after grappling with a lot of fears and anxiety and even sometimes questioning whether I would ever get to have an easier life and a quality love relationship.

I am a parent of 4 adults, adoptive parent, grandparent and have been a poet/writer all of my life. The creative, imaginative side is really a big part of the real me. I have always been known as a “Possibilities Person”. I have raised a multi-racial family and have been involved in promoting and fighting for human and civil rights since my youth. I adopted my fourth child as a single parent after realizing that expanding my family was still important unfinished business for me. I did all of this while heading the licensed, non-profit adoption agency I founded and directed for nearly 29 yrs. The agency will be closing its doors some time in 2010 in order for me to devote myself full time to expanding my coaching practice. I am a certified professional coach and owner of Vision Powered Coaching and also Expert Adoption Coach.com, a branch of Vision Powered Coaching.

My coaching niches reflect my experiences, training and expertise. My personalized approach and compassion for others are qualities for which I have been known in my long career working with adoptive families. I carry this over into my coaching practice. Helping people live happier, more productive lives in a practical but deeply caring way is very important and fulfilling to me professionally.

I help clients move more easily through major choices, life changes and passages.

I help people find renewed purpose and peace after pain and loss, and find the wins in what seem like no-win situations. I help them emerge to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I think you could say I help people who truly want to go from:

Grief to Growth
Acceptance to Action
Without to With
Whining to Winning
Fearing to Facing
Hoping to Happening
Despair to Decision
Delaying to Doing
Emptiness to Enthusiasm
Pain to Purpose
Tolerable to Terrific
Putting up with to Passionate
Mediocre to Magnificent
Suffering to Satisfaction
Complaining to Changing
Confusion to Clarity
Naysaying to Nurturing
Policing to Parenting

I guarantee that no matter how huge a problem seems, or how big a void there is in your life, there is always a way to feel better and to improve things. Some problems can be solved and some can’t, but if you can’t solve them you can change how you respond to them, or can find happier, more productive places to invest your emotions and energy.

It won’t always be easy but if you truly want to figure it out, isn’t it time to begin working on it now? If you want to discover new ways to fill your world with light instead of loss. and with results instead of yearning or disappointment, then what are you waiting for? You can do more than simply survive life’s curves and passages

I am committed to helping if you:

are grieving the loss of a spouse or loved one through death or divorce, and don’t know how to move on with your life….

sometimes wonder if you will ever feel happy again…

live your life waiting for the other shoe to drop and can’t relax…

know that family life or an important relationship can be better than it is now…

are afraid you’ve been unhappy so long that you won’t know how to build a more emotionally and sexually satisfying relationship…

feel stuck in life and have lost your creative spark…

feel fearful and unhappy about growing older…

feel trapped by the needs of your kids and your elderly relatives..

don’t know how to make time for yourself…

I want to help if you:

feel empty due to childlessness and that nobody understands…

want to adopt but feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin..

don’t know if you can raise an adopted child or what type of child will be right for your family…

need knowledgeable support to help you get through the adoption process and the wait for a child…

need support, guidance and even mentoring on how to raise a multi-cultural adoptive family…

need to be energized and guided to more creative and positive parenting…

want help in dealing with adoption issues at various life stages, whether you are an adoptive parent or a teen or adult adoptee…
